Heather Bettner
Heather Bettner is the daughter of Grove pioneers who came to Coconut Grove in 1931 to help launch Pan American Airlines. She was raised by her maternal grandmother Elizabeth Bettner who was an active advocate for Coconut Grove community and awarded the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce Golden Coconut in 1974.
Her paternal grandmother Lorraine Prince was Coconut Grove Chamber President for two terms and one of the Groves first woman realtors, long before it was fashionable for women to work. The brick sidewalks and gas lights we see on a daily basis were spearheaded by her efforts.
She attended the University of Miami. She has enjoyed a successful media career working in executive positions for Knight-Ridder, Cox Radio and CBS.
She is now the President of Prince Media Development an advertising and event marketing firm which consults on developing strategies and initiatives to increase revenue for her clients. Many events Prince Media consults on are produced right here in the Grove, one being the Great Taste of the Grove, as well as previous Fourth of July celebrations.
She is a Council Woman for the Coconut Grove Village Council, sits on the Coconut Grove Chamber Board of Directors and also a member of the Coconut Grove Woman’s Club.
The Coconut Grove Peacock Tour is a labor of love. Long known as an artist community she is excited about the local artist community finally having a local public art event they can participate in. She also hopes this important event will increase visitors to the Coconut Grove village therefore supporting the retail/hospitality community.
In addition the opportunity for charities to benefit at the Auction at the end of the tour makes this event even sweeter.
